Curve raises 55m Series B funding

Today is a momentous day at Curve. We’ve just reached another milestone recognising our success, and getting us one step closer to achieving our mission of bringing Banking to the cloud. 

Curve’s $55M Series B marks the beginning of a new era in banking and places Curve in the top 5 UK consumer fintechs alongside Transferwise, Monzo, Revolut and Starling. 

But Curve isn’t a bank. We’re playing a completely different ball game. Whilst the challenger and traditional banks are busy fighting to win or retain customers, Curve is building a revolutionary new category – an Over the Top Banking Platform that moves banking to the cloud. 

Not being a bank means that we can focus on creating a radically better customer experience, without asking you to switch banks to us or having the significant overhead of a regulated bank. Instead, we are mission control for your money. We are creating a whole new way for you to take charge of your finances and make banking far less complicated than it should be.

We’d like to thank all of our investors – including prominent new investors such as Gauss Ventures, Creditease, Cathay Innovation, IDC Ventures and further participation from Outward VC (previously Investec’s INVC fund), as well as several of our early stage investors such as Santander InnoVentures, Breega, Seedcamp, Connect and Speedinvest, who have shown their confidence in Curve by supporting us further.

Our funding announcement follows a wave of new Curve product launches this year. In January, we launched Curve Metal, our most premium card yet – from its beautifully brushed 18g metal exterior, to its unparalleled benefits.

In the spring, we launched Curve Customer Protection giving you awesome coverage for purchases up to £100,000, filling in the gaps Section 75 leaves, and providing an added layer between you and unscrupulous sellers.

Then just last month, we launched Curve Cash to give you unlimited 1% instant cashback at your choice of leading retailers such as Amazon, Uber, Spotify, Netflix, Tesco, Sainsbury and over 100 more brands. 

We will use the funds from our latest Series B to accelerate our product development and introduce new experiences.  From Curve Send (P2P), to the ability to share any one of your cards with any other Curve customer, to the ability to split any transaction into instalments (even after you made the payment) – Curve will continue to lead in building unique experiences that brings real value to our customers.  And how can we forget the integration with Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay which we have started and aim to complete by the end of Q4 this year. 

Team Curve has grown to more than 150 Curvers

As we grow, we need more talented people to help us execute on our mission to bring Banking to the cloud.  We have more than 50 open roles, and we look to grow the team from 150 people to 250 people by the end of the year, across our London and Bristol offices.  If you know anyone who may be a good fit for one of the roles published on our careers page, please send them to us.
